Prosciutto e Melone

Serves: 4-6
Go to any restaurant on the Amalfi coast and you will always see “Prosciutto e Melone” on the menu. Simply Italian ham and sweet cantaloupe, this appetizer is alway refreshing and satisfying to the palate on a hot summer day. Added slices of fresh mozzarella are optional but definitely welcomed.

  • 1 cantaloupe melon
  • 10-12 slices of prosciutto
  • 1/2 pound (250g) fresh mozzarella, sliced in strips


Remove rind from the melon and slice into wedges and lay on a platter. Place the slices of prosciutto on top of the melon and top with slices of mozzarella.*

Chef Note:   The Italians like to keep it simple, but you can create a fancier presentation by wrapping the melon with slices of prosciutto.
