Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • 1 pound (500g) lean ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) taco seasoning
  • ½ cup (120ml) tomato sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 8-12 hard taco shells

Method

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef. Using a wooden spoon, break up the beef while cooking. Continue to cook until fully browned. Drain any excess fat from the pan. Add in the taco seasoning and tomato sauce. Simmer on medium low for 8-10 minutes to allow flavors to develop. Season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.

Prepare your favorite toppings in individual bowls. The classic kid-friendly toppings are shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, sour cream, and guacamole! Don’t forget to add the hot sauce if you want to spice it up!
