Warm Spiced Apple Cider

Makes 6 - 8 Servings
Nothing says fall like a warm cup of spiced apple cider. A simmering pot on the stove top adds an amazing spicy aroma to your home.

Ingredients

  • 1-2L bottle fresh-pressed sweet apple cider
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) whole cloves
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5ml) whole allspice

Method

Heat cider in a large saucepan over medium high heat.  Wrap cinnamon and spices in a piece of cheesecloth.  Fold up the corners of the cheesecloth to enclose the bundle, then tie the top with a length of kitchen string.  Drop the spice bundle into the cider mixture.  Bring to a rapid boil for 1-2 minutes and reduce to low.  Simmer for 10 minutes to allow spices to meld.  

Remove spices and pour into a jug.  Serve warm in mugs or mason jars along with a cinnamon stick.
