Ingredients

  • 6 apples, preferably McIntosh, peeled, cored and sliced
  • ¼ cup (60ml) water
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) white sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon (1ml) ground cinnamon

Method

In a small saucepan, add peeled, cored and sliced apples, water, sugar and cinnamon.  Bring to a boil and reduce to medium heat.  Simmer for 10-12 minutes until apples are fork tender.  Remove any excess water and let cool slightly.  Mash slightly for a chunky applesauce.  Serve warm or cold.

Chef’s Note:  For an unsweetened applesauce, omit the sugar.
